As per the Inland Revenue Ordinance, employers are legally obliged to file an Employer’s Return in Hong Kong with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). The purpose of this form is to report the information regarding employee’s remuneration like wages, salaries, pension in the relevant year of assessment to the HK government.

How to Fill of Employer’s Return in Hong Kong?

Generally, the IRD issues Employer’s Return of Remuneration and Pension to the employers of Hong Kong companies in April or August of every year. Employers have to present the relevant information on the pensions and remunerations paid to its employees once the form is received.

It should be filed within one month from the issued date of the form. In case there is a problem and you want to have some extended time for the submission, then you need to get approval from the Commissioner of IRD. The declaration is based on the company’s assessment of the Government’s Financial year, which runs from April 1st to March 31st.

When you are completing the form, you need to be more careful with the “Notes and Instructions” section. The IRD reminds employers to submit a copy of the completed form to their employees about facilitating the final’s completion of the tax returns.
